The New Star Citizen trailer for Alpha 2.0
Star Citizens development is often complimented by lengthy design documents, written by producers and their staff and usually on a monthly release. Videos sourced from studios around the world, with introductions to new employees, content updates, bug fixing; Interviews with key personnel in a general style but also in the flavour of a Ten for the xxxxx segment, with either Chris Roberts, familiar producers, writers and a panel of senior designers, answering ten questions from the community. Formal and informal interviews with Youtube personalities and the team itself, reddit AMA's, as well as convention appearances all over world. On and on, a stream of information to keep us well informed.
Star Citizen is not without it's critics. Enter Derek Smart, of 3000AD. A cynic, Derek Smart would have you buy into the idea that it's all a big con and that Star Citizen is a mirage, which affords him a neat segway to peddle his own product, of which he does. His twitter is all a flutter with suggestions of funds mismanagement, citing the affluence in the lifestyle of Chris Roberts as an indication that he and his wife - Sandi Gardner (VP of Marketing for Star Citizen), are both rorting the pledges.
However, both are educated and have provided for themselves through savvy investments, amongst other things. The Roberts may not be living like Saudi princes but nor are they on struggle street, they've got on with their lives.
How anyone could read into that, and from it, mangle and conjure up a fraud is beyond the pale. Derek Smart, holder of two PhD's fished from a weeties packet, who's current game, as he would have you believe, competes with Star Citizen; Is no stranger to a cloud around his own crown, making what you could loosely refer to as 'games' for over a decade with notorious over promising and under delivering. You probably haven't played them, and i'll leave it to you to decide if you'd like to put money down for his latest... accomplishment.
Line of Defense. Star Citizen's competition.
Star Citizen may well be a waiting game, but perhaps, well worth the wait.
